About Woolacombe Beach

Woolacombe beach is a scenic and beautiful 3 miles long golden sand beach in North Devon, England. The beach holds numerous awards in its kitty including the ‘Best British Beach’ by the Mail on Sunday, ‘England for Excellence Gold Award' for being the best family resort and the Blue flag for its excellent water quality, cleanliness and other facilities.

History :
Originally a farm land, the village Woolacombe was named after a family who owned the estate in the reign of King John. Later it became the training centre for US Army Assault during the World War II, who practiced the amphibious landing invasions on the beach. As a tribute to the soldiers, a stone memorial was built on the beach.

Climate :
The climate of Woolacombe is temperate with pleasant warm summers and cool wet winters. The best time to visit is between the months of June to September when the average temperature is 26°C (78°F). However, there can be frequent rains all year round.
