‘Temara’ is a littoral city situated in Khemisset in Morocco Country in North Africa. This city is located about 9 miles (15kms) south of Rabat; the capital of Morocco, on the Atlantic coastline. The exact location can be tracked with the help of latitude and longitude being 33° 55' 48" N and 6° 54' 36" W. Temara city was founded by a Sultan named ‘Abd al-Mumin’ in twelfth century and it was a home to a tribe called ‘Oudayah’ in olden days. As of 2004 census, the population of the city was 225,497.
This seaside town is a pleasant weekend picnic spot. The golden white sand, the cool breeze and the enormous natural bathing tub attract people from nearby cities and towns.
Temara beach, also known as ‘Temara Plage’, is a long coastal area made of stretches of sand, which is divided into different small beaches. Travelling from Rabat, driving down the Highway P1, the first Temara beach that one will approach is, ‘El Harhoura beach’ which is famous for the cave; ‘El Harhoura II’. This cave opens into the ocean wherein the evidences of Neolithic and Paleolithic occupations and remains of human bones were found. La Falaise beach, Casino beach, Sid El Abed beach, Guy Ville beach, Contrebandiers beach, Sables D’or beach, Val d’or beach and Petit Val D’or beach are other Temara beaches.
The natural as well as artificial forest in the area and the ocean keeps the climate mild and wet. So this place is crowded more in summer. This beach is famous for camping. In summer, variety of water sports including swimming and surfing are available here. People love to spend hours on the beach for sunbath. Volleyball and Frisbee are some of the favorite games played here. Pristine bathing pool is another attraction in Temara.
