About Mehdia Beach

Mehdia Beach is situated 19 miles (30 km) from Rabat, the capital of the country Morocco in North Africa. This is a coastal area of the Atlantic Ocean. Starting from the city ‘Sale’ on the old Kenitra road, after travelling 25 km on AR 1, the road will reach Rabat city. Taking left from there is a sign reading ‘Mehdia’. Go straight and at the first hill turn on left side a dirt track can be seen. That leads to Mehdia Beach. Though this beach is not as popular as Temara Beach, it offers a quiet, comfortable and serene place for a family holiday.

This beach is several kilometers long and it is also known as ‘Mehdia Plage’. A wall namedBorj el Kebir’ is built around the beach, which is approximately 400 years old. The sand here is white and very fine and the waves are large with strong undertow. The weather of this beach is quite pleasant and the climate is mild and wet. Even the summer sun is affable and tourists love to spend hours for sun bathing.

Mehdia Beach is very famous for surfing and thus this beach is rightly called ‘cradle’ of surfing. For the adventurous people this beach is a perfect match. Wind surfing, kite surfing and many other types of surfing can be done and witnessed here. There are surfing schools that direct people of all ages and levels in this field. ‘The Atlantic Mehdia Surfing’ is one such surfing school which organizes surf camp where one can learn to surf and enjoy an adventurous vacation. There is also a surf club named ‘Oudayas’ here.

Moreover, this beach is also well known for other water sports like water-skiing, jet-skiing and quad biking. There is a famous fishing port as well and those who love horse riding can also have a ride on horse back along the beautiful and splendid beach. This is a perfect place for camping as well.
