Ipanema Beach Brazil is located in the southern region of the city of Rio de Janeiro, with Leblon beach at one end and the other by Arpoador beach; just a little way from the coast of Copacabana, at the center of the long sweeping crescent of sand. It is referred as the family beach among all Brazil beaches, and is the home of world famous tangas bikini (mini bikini).
Ipanema is one of the icons of the city, famous for cool blue water and soft white sand which promotes sunbathing and swimming. The water and sand is wonderfully warm where one could spend their time sitting on the beach and watching people.
Ipanema gained fame after the release of the song ‘Girl from Ipanema’, by the residents, Vinicius de Moraes and Antonio Carlos Jobim, in 1962, which was later, composed to English. In 2008, another song on this beach called ‘Boy from Ipanema’ was released by Diana Krall. The word ‘Ipanema’ (which means bad water) is derived from old Tupi language, as this beach was not good for fishing where the fish were pushed inside as the waves travel towards coast. Most of the land at Ipanema once belonged to The Baron of Ipanema, Jose Antonio Moreira Filho.
This beach is full of beautiful people and sports activities throughout the year. One could surf in front of the crashing waves or spend their time on the amazing sand. This noisy and overcrowded beach is one of the most amazing urban beaches of the world.
