Why Coastatlantic ?
The objective of the COASTATLANTIC project is to stimulate the healthy and sustainable development of coastal areas from an environmental, social, and economic point of view, through the encouragement of integrated spatial planning and implementation of its management.
The partners involved in this INTERREG III B Program are co-operating since 2003 with the final goal of making recommendations for producing a common vision of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) for the Atlantic Area. A lack of such a vision for the Atlantic Coast has been identified compared to other areas (North Sea, Baltic, Mediterranean) where a homogeneous approach already exists.

General Assembly of the Atlantic Arc Commission - 29-30 June 2006
The Atlantic Arc Commission will organise in Gijón (Asturias) its XVIIth general assembly on 29 and 30 June 2006. The main issues to be discussed there will be co-operation in the field of coastal zone management and the current negotiation of “Interreg IV” operational programme. Coastatlantic outcomes & Perspective 2007-2013 26th of April 2006 (Dublin)
The Joint Secretariat invited the Coastatlantic Lead Partner to present the first outcomes of the project in Dublin:- Main objectives, actions and results;
- The development of the Coastatlantic project within the framework of the present Program INTERREG III B;
- Perspective and possible actions to develop in the new program 2007-2013.
